RSS won the syndication standards battle

RSS won the battle
RSS seems the last conquered have to sweep syndication standard in the industry.

The final nail in the coffin of the atom specification it seems Microsoft's inclusion of RSS into the newest version of Internet Explorer and reports that the RSS in Longhorn, the next release. Even atom the steadfast supporter Google, appears to have seen the light. Google had previously blogger, a popular blogging tool purchased, that uses the atom specification, created the content of the blog on the blogger platform to publish. In the past Google had hope the approval of the RSS specification clearly strategically, that Atom, would take control.

Google seems to confirm that perhaps in purchasing blogger, they chose the wrong specification the last new service that allows to monitor Google News with RSS or Atom feeds.

The adoption of a syndication standard was slowed by the struggle between atom and RSS. Two defined syndication standards, vying for the number one position. Atom supporters claimed flexibility but far curved RSS support from heavyweights like Microsoft, Apple and Yahoo added in an IT industry, the single standard solutions clearly preferred. Together with the popularity rise of podcasting seems based on the RSS 2.0 specification have sealed the fate of the future syndication standard.

The history and the relationship between RSS and Atom is a dirty story, which has hindered the progress of an online syndication standard. Now that the leader has been defined their is little in the way of RSS growth. Suspicious towards always devoured standards fight companies are embracing RSS as a communication channel now.

It is clear that those who have earned behind RSS as the leading specification, are the winner.

Strangely enough, while those deeply rooted in the industry that recognise difficulties with a dual standard, users will see a difference in RSS feeds with the atom and RSS standards created rarely. Most popular RSS reader support read RSS feeds in both formats. Although the purpose of RSS and Atom is the same, the specification is very different, so it is difficult and time-consuming move for tool developers between the two standard.

Now atom's attempt to replace RSS flat please, see innovation probably significant the syndication arena and progress.

Large companies are RSS extensibility, using namespaces, add the required tags advantage. Apple has this with iTunes, Microsoft for ordered lists and Yahoo with MediaRSS. All use the same basic RSS 2.0 format but defined RSS supported future is bright with many companies working proactively to unite an once divided standard.
